Which languages does it support?
Transcriptase detects the spoken language automatically and supports transcription in 99 languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, and Mandarin Chinese.
Is it accurate?
Yes. Audio Transcriptase uses OpenAI’s Whisper, a leading multilingual speech recognition model with near state-of-the-art accuracy. Results still depend on recording quality, background noise, accents, and overlapping speakers.
Which file types work?
Common audio and video formats supported by macOS, including MP3, M4A, WAV, AAC, FLAC, MP4, and MOV.
Are my audio and video files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your files never leave your Mac. All transcription runs locally on your device.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are available within 14 days if Transcriptase doesn’t work as described on your Mac. If you run into an issue, contact audiotranscriptase@gmail.com and we’ll first try to help.
What Mac do I need?
A Mac running macOS 13.3 or newer. Transcription speed depends on your hardware and recording length.
